What is ploopy.net?

ploopy.net is a free Xmpp instance hosted locally in Madison. It is a free and open alternative to commercial messaging and calling providers.
While also being secured with end to end encryption.

Why?

I'm tired of companies selling and mishandling our data. Take Discord for example, once a staple of communication on the internet. That now demands you hand over
your government id to use their platform and have admitted to scanning all user messages with Ai. I believe this erosion of privacy to be a threat to open discourse.
So in order to combat this I have created ploopy.net
